Khaleda meets BNP leaders

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has discussed with the party’s top policymakers Bangladesh’s latest political scenario.

The two-hour meeting of the National Standing Committee was held at her Gulshan office from 9pm on Wednesday.

The media was not briefed but several participants told bdnews24.com they discussed ways to revitalise the organisation.

They also talked about the alleged rigging in the Upazila polls in which the BNP and its allies are trailing the ruling Awami League that has the most number of chairmen.

RA Gani, Moudud Ahmed, Mahbubur Rahman, Jamir Uddin Sircar, Sarowari Rahman, Mirza Abbas, Rafiqul Islam Mia, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdul Moyeen Khan, and acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the meeting.

Wednesday’s parleys came a day after Fakhrul was released from jail.

The committee had last met on Mar 9.
