Food minister blasts corruption

Food Minister Qamrul Islam has warned that his ministry will have zero tolerance for corruption.

“Corruption will not be indulged. We will show zero tolerance to it,” Islam said in a meeting with food officers on Wednesday.

He pledged to keep the ministry free of malpractices.

“We want to achieve self-reliance in food,” said the Awami League leader, who was the state minister for law in the previous government.
He urged everyone to work towards achieving that target.
The minister said the government aimed at turning Bangladesh into a food-surplus country.
Qamrul said the government was taking initiatives to pass the Safe Food Act.
