Dhaka, July 14 (bdnews24.com) – Juba League's former acting chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury has been named the new chairman of the ruling party's youth front.
Presidium member Harun-or-Rashid has been named general secretary, outgoing deputy office secretary Fazlul Haque Atiq told bdnews24.com Saturday evening as the members of the ruling party's youth front gathered in Dhaka for its sixth congress.
The delegates of the ruling party's youth front failed to take a decision over electing the new leadership at the second session of the congress held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center. And there were some chaos over the issue.
Then the top officials of the Jubo League went to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Gonobhaban at around 7pm and then came the announcement.
Omar Faruk Chowdhury and Mirza Azam MP met the Prime Minister. Sometime later, former Jubo League chairman and Awami League joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak also joined them.
Jubo League was founded on Nov 11, 1972 with Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni as the chairman and Nur-E-Alam Siddiqui as the general secretary. At the organisation's first congress in 1974, both were re-elected.
In the second congress, Amir Hossain Amu and Fakir Abdur Razzaque got the posts. In 1986 Mostafa Mohsin Montu and Fulu Sarker and in the fourth congress in 1994 Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Kazi Iqbal Hossain became chairman and general secretary respectively.
In the fifth congress in 2003, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Mirza Azam obtained the two posts.
