Chief Justice Sinha met Judge de Gurmendi and ICC Deputy Prosecutor James Stewart on June 20 during a visit to The Hague in the Netherlands.

Bangladesh's The Daily Star newspaper reported, citing a Supreme Court press release, that the ICC is "satisfied with the proceedings of the country's war crimes trial".

A statement from the ICC said on Monday neither its president nor the deputy prosecutor expressed "any opinion whatsoever about proceedings being conducted before the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh or any other national court proceedings".

"The Court very much regrets the misrepresentations that have appeared in certain Bangladeshi media reports concerning the discussions that took place during these meetings," it added.
