Hello's Sadik Evan wins Progga Tobacco Control Journalism Award 2017

Child journalist Sadik Evan of bdnews24.com's Hello has won the Progga Tobacco Control Journalism Award 2017.

Law Minister Anisul Huq handed the awards at a programme organised by anti-tobacco groups Progga and Atma in the capital's CIRDAP Auditorium on Saturday, the organisations said in a statement.

Evan, an HSC candidate, could not attend the programme due to the ongoing exam. His cousin Maidul Islam Papon received the crest on his behalf.

The child journalist was awarded for his report titled 'Smoking school-goers', and published on hello.bdnews24.com on Apr 16.

He was also among those who received Unicef's Meena Media Award last year. Evan is writing for Hello from 2015.

The others who received the awards are Daily Kirtonkhola Chief Reporter Golam Mortuza Jewel, Jugantor Staff Reporter SAM Hamid-Uz-Zaman Mamun, Bangla Tribune Business In-charge Md Shafiqul Islam, The Daily Star's Senior Reporter Parimal Palma, and Jamuna Television's Senior Reporter Sushanta Sinha.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Progga Coordinator Mohammad Hasan Shahriar, and Atma Convenor Mortuza Haider Liton, among others, spoke at the award-giving ceremony.
