bdnews24.com’s Senior Editor Amanullah Kabir has been hospitalised with a massive heart attack.

According to his family, the senior journalist was rushed to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) at around 5pm on Tuesday after he complained of having chest pain.

His son Shat-Il-Kabir told bdnews24.com that his father had been admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of the institute.

Referring to doctors, he said his father had suffered a massive heart attack.

He said his condition improved later in the night and he spoke to the relatives.

His situation will be observed for 72 hours, he added.

Born on Jan 24, 1947 in Jamalpur, Kabir worked with both Bangla and English news outlets in his career spanning over four decades.

He was the chief editor and managing director of the government-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

He was the founder editor of Daily Amar Desh and the executive editor of now-defunct Daily Telegraph.

Kabir was also the founder executive editor of the Independent and news editor at the Daily Star.

Active in writing, he was the president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists.
