bdnews24.com has lost out to an unknown bidder in the RFQ process – so it stopped providing the SMS news alerts (Breaking News), morning updates, business updates, midday updates, and evening updates on Grameenphone's 321 port from Nov 24.

"It has been a huge privilege and a matter of satisfaction for the newsroom staff at bdnews24.com to have enjoyed the trust of hundreds of thousands of subscribers for nine long years since we introduced Bangladesh to the SMS news service," the internet-only newspaper said in a media statement.

It said that bdnews24.com is in negotiations to re-launch its branded service on another port with Grameenphone.

"The bdnews24.com news service on ports 22000 and our own 22324 with Grameenphone should be up and running anytime soon," a company spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said bdnews24.com is, meanwhile, running all of these services and more – especially the Breaking News alerts in Bangla script – through its own branded port 22324 with Robi.

bdnews24.com is Bangladesh’s largest news publisher by reach and volume of content in two languages. It boasts more than 5 million followers on Facebook.
