Veteran Indian editor dies

MV Kamath, a former editor at the 'Times of India' died on Thursday morning at Manipal in the south Indian state of Karnataka.

A former editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India, he was also the Washington Correspondent for The Times of India in the 1970s and did a stint as editor of The Sunday Times.

He was made chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board when the Vajpayee government was in power.

BJP leader LK Advani is slated to attend his funeral.

He was still doing an honorary stint at the age of 94, as chairman of the Manipal Institute of Communications.
