HEU Director General Md Ashadul Islam and Green Delta Managing Director and CEO Farzana Chowdhury signed the agreement at the HEU offices on Thursday, according to a press release.
Since the government project, which aims to improve the healthcare delivery system of the population living below poverty line, started in March last year, Green Delta has worked as its scheme operator, said the release.
It said the Health Economics Unit was ready to initiate the second phase in Kalihati, Ghatail and Modhupur of Tangail. Green Delta will continue its services.
The project was initially taken up in Kalihati and was seen as a huge step in revolutionising the healthcare delivery system for the poor by introducing micro insurance.
The poor people selected under certain criteria will get a card to receive treatment for 50 diseases commonly found in them, according to the press release.
The treatment will take place in government health facilities of the district.
The government will also give Tk 1,000 per family each year as the premium for a pool fund. One family will get Tk 50,000 worth of treatment a year, the release added.
