The Foundation said the first-of-its-kind app covers most of the information on liver diseases starting from hepatitis to liver transplant.

Styled “Hepatitis Janun ebong bhalo thakun” (know hepatitis and stay well), it can be downloaded on Google Play Store.

The Foundation said on Thursday the App was launched on the World Hepatitis Day on July 28 that it observed in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet.
This year it was themed on ‘elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030’.
Hepatitis, an inflammation of liver, is caused by A, B, C, D, and E viruses. Hepatitis A and E are generally food and water-borne, which may often get cured.
But in some cases, it may become hazardous and can even cause death.
Hepatitis B and C are spread by blood and body fluids of an infected person.
In Bangladesh, it is estimated that 4 to 5 percent of the total population is infected by Hepatitis B while about one percent have hepatitis C.
About 3.5 percent of the pregnant women are carrying Hepatitis B virus.
Prof Mohammad Ali, General Secretary of the Foundation, has urged the government to make a “comprehensive viral hepatitis strategy” to eliminate the disease from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh fast bower Taskin Ahmed, former captain Habibul Bashar, and ex-batsman Javed Omar Belim also attended the launch.
