Director of this international financial institution’s Science and Technology Office Sameh Hussein led the team that included leading health specialists from Gambia, the Maldives, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone.

Icddr,b said on Sunday they were “proud” to host that delegation that came to learn from the research organisation’s “success in scaling up Bangladesh-born innovations”.

“The visitors indicated their interest in future collaboration with icddr,b to apply its knowledge and expertise in achieving health-related development goals in their countries,” it said.

The visit was part of IDB’s commitment to encourage “reverse linkage” from south to south and explore collaborative partnerships between low-income countries to tackle the major health care challenges.
Icddr,b is known for discovering low-cost health solutions and spread them up globally.
It has a long history in providing technical assistance and emergency response to other countries.
The centre has recently been named a “centre of excellence” by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
