The United Nations declared June 21 as ‘International Day of Yoga’ adopting an India-led resolution last year.

The IGCC said they organised a seminar on Saturday in association with Bangladesh Yoga Association, and Bangladesh Martial Art Confederation at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Auditorium.

After the seminar, experts demonstrated different positions of yoga called ‘Asanas’.

Yoga is an art and science of healthy living and it focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body, according to the experts.

The commemoration of the day began on Friday with a guest lecture on yoga at the IGCC Gulshan premises.

MN Kundu, Indian government’s resource person for human resource development through training, spoke about scientific theory and practice of yoga in his lecture.

“Yoga is neither religion nor philosophy. Its universal culture of humanity,” he said.

“Yoga awakens by shifting consciousness. Enables expression of potentialities. It’s purely scientific,” he also said.
