Akie Abe visited Dhaka Nursing College on Saturday during her first Bangladesh visit along with her husband Shinzo Abe.

She had her own schedule as her husband was busy with bilateral parleys.

First she visited Baptist Mission Integrated School at Mirpur from where she went to the Nursing College adjacent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

She interacted with students and teachers of both institutions and enquired about their activities.

She also brought gifts from Tokyo for both institutions.

Students and representatives of the missionary school and nursing college welcomed her with flower bouquet.

She listened to the briefing of their activities.

Unlike other First Ladies, Akie Abe is known for her outspoken views, which often contradict her husband’s policies.

And that’s why she is popularly known as the “domestic opposition”.

During nursing college visit, she encouraged students for their profession as a nurse.

An administrator of the college who was present there told bdnews24.com that she highlighted the values of nursing as a profession and told students about the importance of serving humanity.
She also encouraged them for higher education and in this regard emphasised on exchange programmes between the two countries.
Prime Minister Abe will leave Dhaka on Sunday morning at about 10.30pm after completing his less than 22 hour tour, first by any Japanese PM in 14 years.
