Korea starts nursing curriculum preparation process

Korea has started the process of preparing a nursing curriculum for an advanced nursing institute it is building in Dhaka.

The ‘National Institute of Advanced Practice Nurses in Bangladesh’ will be the first national institute of its kind that will offer masters and PhD degrees in nursing.

Korea will provide $ 13.75 million grant for its establishment.

Its development arm, KOICA, on Monday says it brought together more than 35 nursing education experts including 10 professors from the Yonsei University, Korea, at a workshop on preparing curricula.

They will prepare curricula for six major subjects –Adult Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Maternal Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Nursing Administration.

The workshop elicited ideas from the local and Korean experts to develop the practical based modern MSC nursing curricula.

The construction of the academic building of the Institute is under process.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will oversee the academic activities of the institute.
