Crown Cement fined Tk 1.5mn
The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined Tk 1.5 million to MI Cement Factory, popularly known as Crown Cement, for air pollution.

Dhaka, Apr 24 (bdnews24.com) – The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined Tk 1.5 million to MI Cement Factory, popularly known as Crown Cement, for air pollution.
DoE director (enforcement) Munir Chowdhury fined the managing director of the cement factory at Muktarpur in Munshiganj district on Tuesday.
The factory was also asked to control air pollution within a week.
A DoE media statement said a team led by Munir found 1113 cubic metres of sulphur-dioxide and 2727 cubic metres of suspended particulate matter in the air of the factory and adjacent area though their permissible levels are 80 cubic metres and 200 cubic metres, respectively.
