He has been admitted to the Labaid Hospital in Dhaka around 12pm on Thursday after falling ill, said Shamim Ahmed Rony, a film director known to be close to Shakib.
He told bdnews24.com that Khan had been suffering from stomach problems, for which he has to travel to Singapore twice a year for treatment.
"May be it's the same problem. The mental pressure over the last few days may be a reason."
Rony said further details will be available when the doctors finish diagnosis.
Apu, who had been out of the limelight for about a year, gave a live interview on Dhaka-based broadcaster News24 on Monday, where she claimed to have married Khan in 2008 and had a child with him last year.
