Supreme Court clears screening of Indian Bangla movie ‘Kelor Kirti’

The Appellate Division has stayed a High Court order, which barred screening of Indian Bangla movie ‘Kelor Kirti’ in Bangladesh theatres.

The four-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha gave the order on Sunday.
 
On Jul 19, the High Court barred screening of the Tollywood movie for six months after hearing a petition, which cited violation of rules regarding screening foreign films.
 
Kolkata’s film industry is based in Tollygunge, hence Tollywood as Bollywood for the Bombay film industry, originated from Hollywood.
 
The importer of the movie, Aradhana Enterprise moved the appeals court against the order, which was heard on Sunday.
