Lead singer Rahul Anand of Joler Gaan seriously injured in road accident

Popular lead singer Rahul Anand of the folk-music band Joler Gaan has been seriously injured in a road mishap that occurred in the capital’s Tejgaon area in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The band’s percussionist Saiful Jarnal told bdnews24.com that Rahul was on the rear seat of a motorcycle being driven by a friend of his when the accident occurred on Sunday.

They were hit hard by a microbus speeding behind them. As they fell, Rahul’s right leg got caught by one of the wheels of the motorcycle. 'Nothing serious' happened to his friend.

Jarnal further told bdnews24.com that Rahul was immediately taken to the 'Pangu Hospital' (National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation - NITOR)

and was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Rahul’s leg was operated on at about 10:30pm, according to Jarnal.

Besides singing, Rahul is also involved in theatre groups.

He has also acted in TV dramas but is currently more popular as a singer.
