Singer Nancy's condition 'stable' after shifted to Dhaka

Popular singer Nazmun Munira Nancy has been brought to Dhaka after she reportedly took an overdose of sedatives.

She was moved to the Dhaka's LabAid Specialised Hospital Sunday morning from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

LabAid Hospital's Assistant General Manager (Corporate Communications) Saifur Rahman Lenin told bdnews24.com that Nancy has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

"We have examined and found her condition to be stable. But the effect of the sedatives is yet to be over. She's slumping into an occasional delirium," said Lenin.

National award winner singer Nancy hails from Netrokona and lives at her father's home at the town's Saatpai area.

She was brought in to the Netrokona Sadar Hospital Saturday evening.

A duty nurse at the hospital said the singer had consumed 20 pills on Friday night and another 40 pills on Saturday.

Netrokona Sadar Hospital's Dr Khaled Mosharaf told bdnews24.com she had been shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated soon after her admission around 7pm.

Later, she was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Assistant Sub-inspector Md Haider Ali of DMCH police outpost said that relatives brought her in around 6.30 am on Sunday.

DMCH physician Khonodkar Shoyeb told bdnews24.com:"We have found her to be almost ok, there's nothing to worry about. We released her around 7.30am as she had wanted."

Relatives then shifted her to the LabAid Hospital at Dhanmondi area.

An award winning singer, Nancy had racked up a controversy last year by accusing the government of “unleashing” police on her after her Facebook posting in support of the BNP.

She also claimed receiving threats on phone from unidentified sources since her Facebook posting.
