The instruction came in the verdict, which declared a rule that allowed MPs to preside over these bodies as contrary to the Constitution.

On Jun 1, the bench of justices Zinat Ara and AKM Zahirul Hoque gave the order on hearing a petition.

The full verdict was released on Sunday, said the petitioner’s counsel Younus Ali Akhand.

He said that High Court gave 12 specific instructions in the full verdict.

They include,

>> MPs cannot chair governing bodies of local schools and colleges.

>> Special committees at schools and colleges formed by MPs cancelled.

>> Cancelling the section in the law allowing MPs to form special committees.

>> Secretaries to the law and education ministries and the Dhaka Education Board told to amend all law concerning the issue within 60 days.

>> All institutions must form an ad hoc committee within 30 days to hold elections for governing bodies and management committees.

>> HC ordered to formulate regulations allowing polls to elect chair of the bodies.
