More HSC, SSC subjects to have creative questions

Starting from 2016, six more papers in HSC will have creative question papers.

The Alim examinations will get creative questions in four papers.

The education ministry announced on Wednesday that it would also introduce creative questions to the Dakhil paper Civics in 2016 and nine other papers in SSC from 2017.

A meeting chaired by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid took the decisions, a ministry release said.

HSC papers Economics, Logic, Information and Communication Technology, Finance, Banking and Insurance, Production Management and Marketing and Geography will have creative questions from 2016.
Alim exams for madrasa students will have creative questions in Economics, Physics, Biology and Civics and Governance from 2016.
The release also said from 2017, the SSC papers Agricultural Studies, Statistics, Psychology, Home Economics, Child Development, Food and Nutrition, Home Management and Family Life, Crafts and Clothes and Islamic Studies will get creative questions.
This year HSC had creative questions in 12 papers and Alim had them in three. In SSC and equivalent exams, a total of 29 papers had creative questions.
The government claims that the new format of questions have increased students' skills and helped reduce cheating.
The education minister, too, has been saying that the creative question system has helped increase the pass rate. But there has been some criticism about the system being applied to mathematics and some other subjects.
Creative questions were introduced in HSC from 2012.
Last year the Junior School Certificate (JSC) exams had creative questions in all papers except Bengali grammar, English and Mathmatics. In future JSC math will have 60 percent creative questions.
The Primary School Certificate (PSC) exams this year will have 35 percent creative questions.
