The National Board of Revenue (NBR) collected Tk 21.3 billion during the weeklong fair that ended on Monday.

The amount is 4.63 percent higher than the collection made during last year's fair.

According to an NBR statement, last day's collection was a little over Tk 4 billion and around 45,000 taxpayers submitted returns.

The NBR said around 1 million citizens received tax-related services in the fair.

The seventh Income Tax Fair was held at divisional headquarters, districts and Upazilas along with the main event at the capital's National Revenue Building.

Fair organising committee Convenor NBR Member Abdur Razzak thanked the taxpayers at a discussion held by the end of the fair.

NBR Chairman Nojibur Rahman said, "We are amazed to see how the taxpayers submitted returns by braving rain and sitting on the floor."

"This year's fair has proven that taxpayers do not hesitate to pay taxes if the proper environment can be created," he added.
