AIDIA holds first-ever Bangladesh-India-Nepal conference in Kathmandu

The Asian Institute of International Affairs (AIDIA) has organised the first-ever Bangladesh-India-Nepal conference in Kathmandu to strengthen trilateral economic ties.

Political and business leaders as well as the countries’ envoys attended the ‘Second Himalayas Forum’ on Wednesday at Yak and Yeti Hotel, said the Nepal-based think tank.
 
Former Nepalese Prime Minister Shri Jhalanath Khanal stressed the need to “move beyond irritants in the relationship to forge stronger and deeper ties among the nations”.
 

Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae drew attention to the “immense economic opportunities” waiting to be tapped.
He insisted on a pragmatic approach.
Bangladesh Ambassador Mashfee Binte Shams, Nepali Congress leader Prakash Sharan Mahat, President of CNI Hari Bhakta Sharma, CEO of the Investment Board of Nepal Radhesh Pant and Chair of Energy Committee of FNCCI Gyanendra Lal Pradhan also spoke, among others.
