For the first time, the central bank has introduced a rule to keep fingerprints of the persons so that they cannot draw new notes more than once.

One person will be able to draw notes up to Tk 3,700.

Deputy Governor Nazneen Sultana came up with the news at a press conference on Tuesday.

She said the new currencies would be available at all offices of the central bank and branches of some private banks from Sep 17 to 23.

According to her, 450 machines would be set up at the cattle markets to identify fake currencies.

The central bank strengthened monitoring in the commercial banks to stop exchange of counterfeit currencies, Sultana said.

Counterfeit note identification booths would be set up at seven cattle markets at Dhaka North City Corporation, 10 at Dhaka South City Corporation and three outside the city corporations, she said.

A total of 39 banks were given the charge of checking notes in the cattle markets, she added.

The deputy governor said such booths would be set up in the districts with a Bangladesh Bank office.

Sonali Bank would set up booths at other districts in consultation with the deputy commissioners, she added.
