He asked the women entrepreneurs and SME sections of banks to talk to Dhaka City mayors for the market place.

“Many countries have weekend ‘Sunday Market’ for women entrepreneurs,” Rahman said at ‘Women Entrepreneurs 2015’ programme in Dhaka on Thursday.

“But we can organise ‘Friday Market’ since Friday is the weekend here,” he said.

Rahman said 64 banks and financial institutions elected 1,014 interested women entrepreneurs this year.

The figure was not encouraging, he said.

“We will elect a minimum 27,000 entrepreneurs at 9,000 bank branches and bring at least 9,000 new women entrepreneurs under banking services,” Rahman added.

Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury said banks and non-banking financial institutions disbursed about Tk 8.867 billion loan among 80,370 women entrepreneurs between January and March this year.
