Government extends contracts with four rental power plants

The government has extended contracts with four rental power plants.

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase approved four proposals for the extension at a meeting on Wednesday with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chair.
 
After the meeting, Cabinet Division’s Additional Secretary Mostafizur Rahman told reporters the committee also approved new tariff for the extended period.
 
All the plants are gas-fired.
 
They are Bogra 20-megawatt, Kumargao 50-megawatt and Shahjibazar 50-megawatt power plants run by Energy Prima Limited and Bhola 34.5-megawatt plants operated by Venture Energy Resources Limited.
 
Contacts with Energy Prima plants have been extended for three years and with Venture Energy Resources Limited for two years.
 
Rahman said Energy Prima plants’ tariff for per kilowatt unit of electricity per hour had been fixed at Tk 2.71, Tk 2.89 and Tk 2.98 respectively while it would be Tk 3.48. for Energy Resources plant.
 
The meeting also approved appointment of Fichtner-UDS as the consultant for Comilla and Mymensingh zone pre-paid power meter supply project.
 
Tk 106.7 million will be spent on the consultant.
