The previous limit for them was 3000 US dollars.
Dealers in foreign exchange across the country have been notified about the raise in foreign exchange limit for travellers on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh Bank notification said if someone took less than $ 5000, it was possible to take the rest of permissible limit in other foreign currencies.
It said the permissible limit could be withdrawn by the traveller through credit or debit cards .
