First tender for Metro Rail project
The government has invited bids for its first global tender for Metro Rail’s engines and coaches (Rolling Stock) and to identify a construction group to carry out the project.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told a press conference on Sunday that the tender seeks what he described as ’Package-8'.
“In the Tk 30 billion package is included Rolling Stock, Depot equipment and Depot Rolling Stock for the project.
"Besides, Metro Rail Plant, Workshop, Operation Control Centre, Electrical building, Washing Plant, Training Centre will also be constructed and that is covered by the tender.”
Invitation of tender for 8 packages would be completed by the end of 2015, he said.
Quader has said that the Tk 220 billion Metro Rail project will be completed by 2019.
