A media statement from the central bank on Monday said an IMF team had also found the financial front to be 'firm'.

The IMF team evaluated data on recent economic situation.

IMF Executive Director Rakesh Mohan observed that Bangladesh's macro-economic situation was stable and the financial sector was very strong.

He said the country was achieving a 6.2 percent growth and inflation was coming down, too.

The report praised Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman for taking various steps to keep the overall economic situation stable.

Besides, the IMF said, the authorities had taken steps to improve security and working environment at readymade garment factories.

The representatives lauded the government for improving economic indices and introducing various reforms to stabilise the economy.
