The nation has kicked off talks with ratings agencies to lay the groundwork for a return to international debt markets
He sought the people's help to achieve this while speaking at a programme in Chandpur on Saturday.
"The incumbent government aims at making Bangladesh a middle-income country.
"It will be possible to achieve the goal," Muhith said.
He said Bangladesh's export earnings would have to cross $ 50 billion.
The finance minister emphasised involving women, who constitute half the population, in economic activities to increase growth.
"We have to work to take our national growth to 8 to 10 percent. And that's where women have to come forward," he said.
Muhith said the country cannot make progress leaving behind half its population.
