Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Ramna) Md Iqbal said on Saturday evening that the arrestee, 'Jony', is a suspect, who has been named in the case.

The officer however did not disclose where he was arrested from.

A total of three suspects, including Jony, have been so far arrested in connection with the killing.

On Saturday afternoon a Dhaka court granted police five days to interrogate two suspects, 'Faruk' and 'Sohel'.

Police nabbed them from Moghbazar area in the morning.

Police said they had prima facie evidence to link the duo to the murder. The court rejected the bail pleas of the accused and sent them to five days remand.

They too, are named in the case filed by the victims' relatives. Police said they were accomplices of the prime suspect Kala Babu.

The two were there during the shooting, police told bdnews24.com.

On Thursday night, a group of unknown assailants entered a house in Sonalibagh and shot dead Ranu, 30, and her tenants, ‘Munna’, 22, and ‘Belal’, 20.

Ranu’s 18-year old brother ‘Hridoy’ was wounded and is now being treated at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The family immediately blamed local "criminal" Kala Babu, saying he had been demanding money for some time.

A case was lodged at Ramna Police Station on Friday night by Shamim alias Kala Chan, the brother of Ranu.

It accused 15 people for the killing. Among the accused are Kala Babu, Faisal Ahmed Rony, 'Shahdat', 'Raju', 'Topu', 'Sohel', 'Arif', 'Maruf', 'Billal', 'Thandu', 'Siraj', 'Picchi Rony' and 'Jony'.

According to the case details, Kala Babu had been trying to extort money from Kala Chan following a dispute over possession of a land.
