Bhola, Nov 27 (bdnews24.com)–Five bodies, including those of children, have been retrieved from a Lalmohon-bound launch that partially capsized late on Friday at Nazirpur, some 40 kilometres from Bhola town.

The MV Coco-4 was carrying some 1,500 passengers from Dhaka, police said.

At least 25 people were injured as they tried to jump from the overloaded launch.

Police and locals joined in rescue work, recovering the bodies from the hold of the vessel where families, trying to reach home for the Eid holiday, were crammed.

Saiful Islam, second officer of Nazirpur Police Station, told bdnews24.com the five bodies, including two children, could not be immediately identified.

Surviving passengers said the launch hull had been damaged when it had moored at Nazirpur Ghat.

Passengers tried to leave the launch as the accident occurred and the vessel began tilting to one side, letting water in.
