Office hockey league gets underway

Dhaka, Nov 6 (bdnews24.com) – Star-studded Firoza Land Properties made a flying start in the Office Hockey League with a 6-3 win over Bangladesh Air Force in the opening match at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium Tuesday.

Firoza dominated the first half 3-1 with national medio Chayan striking two goals in the 12th and 24th minutes while national striker Habul netted one goal in the 18th minute.

Mamun Hossain reduced the margin for Air Force in the 26th minute before the breather.

After the lemon break, Mokshed and Tapu widened the Firoza margin in the 41st and 44th minutes before Air Force Rasel Uddin and Mamun Hossain scored in the 53rd and 63rd minutes.

Rahul scored the sixth goal for Firoza Land Properties two minutes from time.

In the day's other match, Bangladesh Army blanked Afsar Ltd 8-0 after leading the first half 4-0.

Army captain Sirajul Islam struck three goals, Sanwar Hossain scored two goals and Didar Hossain, Abdul Khalek and Jamal Khan netted one goal apiece.

Earlier, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) vice president Protap Sankar Hajra inaugurated the eight-team meet, which is being held after 2004. BHF general secretary Shamsul Bari and joint secretary Khaza Rahmatullah were also present.
