Sick since Saturday night, he was admitted to United Hospital in Dhaka’s Gulshan on Sunday, his family said.

He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The 46-year-old former cricketer, who celebrated his birthday last Wednesday, is now Chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Game Development Committee, the national team manager and a director of the board.

Sujan was supposed to attend an emergency general meeting of the board on Sunday.

Following his absence in it, other BCB directors rushed to his home and later on to the hospital after the meeting.

Sujan, who retired from international cricket in 2006, had returned home only a few days ago from Cox’s Bazar after playing in the 2nd edition of Walton Masters Cricket Carnival, in which only former star cricketers take part.

He also coaches several teams in domestic cricket.

During the 10 years Sujan played for the national team, he had scored 991 runs and took 67 wickets in 77 ODIs. He had made 266 runs and claimed 13 wickets in 12 Tests.
