Bangladesh’s Mashrafe gets one-match suspension for slow over-rate
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been slapped with one-match suspension due to his team’s slow-over rate offence in the third ODI against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 70 runs to earn a 1-1 draw in the three-match series at Colombo's Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on Saturday.
The International Cricket Council was yet to send out the media statement regarding Mashrafe’s penalty, but he confirmed the matter in the press briefing after the match.
“I’ve been banned for a match, can’t play the next one-day,” he said.
Bangladesh had received a warning from the match referee after falling behind of the minimum over-rate in the first ODI at Dambulla. The tourists were also 25 minutes late to complete 50 overs in the second ODI at the same venue, but the match was abandoned due to rain.
On Saturday, the Tigers took almost 30 extra minutes to bowl their quota in the Sri Lankan innings. Hence the penalty was expected.
However, this was not the first time Mashrafe received this penalty. Suspension on over-rate offence in Bangladesh’s World Cup quarterfinals game against India sidelined him for their home clash against Pakistan.
