Bangladesh were handed a huge 208-run defeat late in the second session of the final day in Hyderabad on Monday.

Ashwin, who has reached 250 Test wickets in 45 matches – faster than any other bowler in history – approached Mushfiqur after the presentation ceremony.

Mushfiqur responded with a smile.

Although seen from a distance, the scenes made perfect sense as the tall offspinner had reached the milestone in Bangladesh’s first innings on Sunday and Mushfiqur was his 250th scalp earned with that ball.

Mushfiqur later confirmed it at the post-match press conference.

Ashwin is the only spinner among the top four fastest to the landmark tally, containing Australian legend Dennis Lillee (in 48 Tests), South Africa pace spearhead Dale Steyn (49) and his compatriot the ‘White Lightning’ Allan Donald (50).

Ashwin bagged four more wickets on Monday to make it 254 in 45 Tests.
