A duck in the second innings could not take the shine off his sparkling 217 in the first as the ace Bangladesh allrounder moved to his career-best spot in the list for Test batsmen after the first Test against New Zealand.

In the Test list for allrounders, Shakib received career-best 436 points but was still second behind India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (482).

He got 31 points in his allrounders ranking from the Wellington Test and previously had a best of 419 points in November 2014.

Mushfiqur Rahim, who cracked a superb 159 in a record-breaking partnership for Bangladesh with Shakib in the first innings, made the biggest leap in the batsmen rankings – 10 places into 35th.

After being hit in the head by a bouncer, the skipper retired hurt in the second innings; or else, he could have added more to his points and, in the process, save the match for Bangladesh.

The Tigers lost the match by 7 wickets on the final day and are still winless on their first overseas tour after more than two years.

Opener Tamim Iqbal is at the top of the batsmen’s chart. Riding on his 56 and 25 in the two innings at Basin Reserve, he has moved two places up to 20th.

Mominul Haque, who scored 64 and 23, advanced one place to 28th.
