Dhaka Dynamites' Shakib wants to win BPL 2016

Dhaka Dynamites captain Shakib Al Hasan has set aside personal goals for the Bangladesh Premier League 2016, rather he wants to win the competition this year.

The ace allrounder, who emerged the best player in the first two editions of the competition, led Dhaka to a 32-run win over defending champions Comilla Victorians with a fine allround show at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.

He cracked an unbeaten 41 before taking a wicket to help the home team seal their fifth win from eight matches.

The win took the Dynamites (10) to second in the points table behind Khulna Titans (12). They are level on points but ahead in run rate than Rangpur Riders, who have played a match fewer.

“The aim is to play final of BPL this time, to become champions if possible. I have no personal goal apart from that,” Shakib said after the match.

"I don't see any cars either. What good will becoming Man-of-the-Series be, if there is no car,” he joked.

Shakib won the second edition with Dhaka Gladiators under the leadership of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“Sometimes there are personal goals but those don't matter at one stage. What's important is how much I can contribute for the team.

"We still have the chance to win the title. We will try to win it together,” the 29-year-old allrounder said.

Mashrafe had led his teams, Dhaka Gladiators and Comilla Victorians, to the title on all three previous occasions.

With Comilla languishing at the bottom of the table with seven defeats from eight matches, the possibilities of the Bangladesh limited-overs captain replicating the feat this year seems unlikely.
