The series is likely to be held after the forthcoming Eid holidays in September but the boards are yet to set the number of matches for the tour.

"We are in talks with the BCB to play the series next month but we are yet to sign the Memorandum of Understanding [MoU]," ESPNcricinfo quoted ACB media manager Aziz Gharwal as saying.

"We haven't yet set dates for the matches but we will soon publish the dates on our website."

After a militant attack in Dhaka had put England's five-week tour of Bangladesh under security cloud, the England and Wales Cricket Board cleared the tour on Thursday evening UK time.

The England ODI team is supposed to set foot in Dhaka on Sep 30. The BCB wants the Tigers to play an ODI series in their backyard before England arrive.

The board, however, is in talks with one other team about a home series, the ESPNcricinfo report added, but Akram Khan, the chief of BCB's Cricket Operations Committee, said, "We are still in talks with them but we cannot confirm anything at the moment."

Having played their last 50-over match in November last year, Bangladesh are scheduled to play the first of the three ODIs against England on Oct 7.

If Afghanistan's visit is confirmed, the Tigers will play their first ODI this year and their first international match since March.

Bangladesh have played two ODIs against Afghanistan - losing the first by 32 runs in the 2014 Asia Cup before winning the next in the World Cup last year.
