Media and Communication Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus said the board's latest letter to Kalpage had gone unanswered.

Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha, fielding coach Richard Halsall and trainer Mario Villavarayan have already returned to work but Kalpage had stayed back home citing security reasons at the time.

BCB asked him to come back to Bangladesh by Aug 16.

"We had sent him a letter asking him to return to work by August 16, but he didn't respond to us. So the BCB has terminated his contract," Media committee chief Yunus told ESPNcricinfo.com.

Kalpage joined the BCB staff as assistant coach and spin bowling instructor in July 2014.

He was also the head coach of the National Cricket Academy from 2008 to 2019.

Like the others in the coaching staff, his contract was extended a few days ago until the 2019 World Cup.
