In the other match of the day at Mirpur, Mohammedan Sporting Club thrashed Prime Bank Cricket Club by 82 runs to climb to the top of the points table on Wednesday.

Mohammedan and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club are level on 12 points from eight matches. But Mohammedan have the edge on net run rate.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, both matches had to be pushed to the reserve day because of rain.

At BKSP-3, the 21-year-old pacer's 4-32 helped Abahani overcome a heroic century from Shamsur Rahman (138).

On Tuesday, Rajat Bhatia (90) and Tamim Iqbal (55) helped Abahani post 276 before rain ended play.

Taskin put the Gazi Group batsmen to the sword at the outset of their chase, removing Anamul Haque and Mahedi Hasan with the first two balls.

Returning to action after more than a year, Shahadat Hossain took out Saeed Anwar Junior (1) in his second over before Taskin struck again to leave their opponents tottering on 25-4 in the seventh over.

Taskin gave away 13 runs for his three wickets in five overs in his first spell.

But Shamsur looked in command at the other end, playing some spectacular shots on either side of the wicket.

Alok Kapali (15) and Elias Sunny (13) aided Shamsur in a couple of short partnerships but they left much to be desired. Gazi Group were reduced to 103-6 with Shamsur batting on a run-a-ball 66.

Shamsur then found an able partner in No.8 Faruque Hossain (29). The duo notched 75 off 87 balls and brought the required equation down to 99 off 78.

Shamsur reached his first century this season spearing a boundary off Mosaddek Hossain which complemented 12 more fours and three sixes in his 130-ball knock.

But Bhatia landed a huge blow to Gazi Group's hopes when he dismissed Faruque with the first ball of the 38th over.

Shamsur tried to up the ante after reaching his century, hammering Saqlain Sajib and Bhatia for a couple of sixes. Gazi Group needed 71 runs from the last nine overs.

But Taskin took the centre-stage again when he trapped the opener in front with the third ball of his second spell which put paid to Gazi Group's chances.

Mohammad Sharif only managed to reduce the deficit with his 20-ball 25 at No.11 before his team was bundled out for 244.

Shamsur (481) is now breathing on the neck of leading run scorer Imtiaz Hossain (490) of Prime Doleshwar.

Both the teams are level on eight points from as many matches while Gazi Group are ahead on net run rate.
