Jubair returned 6-34 to help Abahani skittle Kalabagan out for a measly 140 in 33.1 over after being asked to bowl first at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.

Hamilton Masakadza top scored for Kalabagan with 41 before falling to Jubair who bowled his 9.1 overs in a full burst.

He went on to bag the wickets of Mehrab Hossain junior (10), Sharifullah (0), Tanveer Haider (7), Nihaduzzaman (8) and Abdur Razzak (12) to register his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket.

As Jubair tore through Kalabagan batting from one end, Saqlain Sajib (2-25) did a good job in keeping things tight at the other. Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Abul Hasan chipped in with a wicket each.

Although Abahani lost their skipper Tamim Iqbal (7) early in their chase, they sauntered off to the paltry target in just 28.3 overs.

After Tamim ran himself out, Litton Kumar Das (12) perished to leave Abahani on 33-2 in the ninth over.

But Avishek Mitra (32) kept his cool to steady the ship before Uday Kaul (44 not out) and Nazmul Hossain Shanto (35 not out) put up an unbroken 57-run stand for the fourth wicket to seal the victory.

Kalabagan skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza went wicketless for 18 runs bowling four overs.

Dewan Sabbir and Nihaduzzaman took a wicket each.

In the other first round match on the opening day in Mirpur, Mahedi Hasan scored a century on his List A debut to power Gazi Group Cricketers to a convincing win over defending champions Prime Bank Cricket Club.

The 21-year-old right-handed batsman smashed 103 off 89 balls to help Gazi Group rack up 303-4. In reply, Prime Bank were bundled out for just 197 in 46.3 overs.

At BKSP-3, a century from Imtiaz Hossain (100) steered Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club to an eight-wicket win over Cricket Coaching School.
