The tourists did not lose any wicket, though, as both openers retired after adding 64 in just seven overs in a clinical reply.

The Proteas wrapped up the chase in 12 overs.

The hosts were bowled out for only 99 runs in 18 overs in the match at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium in Narayanganj’s Fatullah on Friday.

David Wiese bagged three wickets while Kyle Abbott and Aaron Phangiso took two each.

JP Duminy, Kagiso Rabada and leg-spinner Eddie Leie also chipped in with the ball to torment the BCB XI batsmen.

Openers Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers went hard after the BCB XI bowlers in their chase of the small target.

De Kock retired on 36 off 35 while de Villiers went off after making 25 from 19 balls.

Duminy and David Miller made 17 and 20 not out respectively to finish the game with eight overs to go.

Spinners Abdur Razzak and Sohag Gazi, who is in the Bangladesh T20 squad for the South Africa series, were taken for 11 runs in their first overs.

Pacers Abul Hasan and Kamrul Hasan also failed to do any damage to the Proteas.

Medium pacer Al-Amin Hossain was the most economic owner with 12 runs in 2 overs.

The BCB XI had elected to bat first after winning the toss but had a rough start. The top order batsmen went back as quickly as they came and struggled for runs in the face of incisive bowling.

Rony Talukdar, who is also in the T20 squad, could not do much. Anamul Haque, struggling to get his spot back in the national team after recovering from a shoulder injury, followed suit.

The batting started to crumble after Abbott bowled Rony and Anamul in the third over.

Captain Imrul Kayes made 29 off 24 balls but he was caught at the long-off boundary following a spectacular joint effort from Miller and Beuran Hendricks.

Only two other BCB XI batsmen managed to get into double-figures - Shuvagata Hom (18) and Gazi (13).

Once they were sent back by Wiese and Duminy, the rest failed to put up any sort of resistance against the South Africa bowlers.
