After a draw in the Khulna Test, Bangladesh’s first against Pakistan after a string of losses, Mushfiqur views the second Test as a ‘final’ against their sub-continent rivals.

The second Test kicks off at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

The hosts have drawn the first Test on the back of a superb fightback on the fourth day and a historic final day last weekend.

With Pakistan winless in the series so far, a spirited Bangladesh have much to be confident about.

“(It’s a) final, so we definitely aim to win it. Everyone is working hard to be able to do whatever needed to win this match,” said Mushfiq in the pre-match press conference.

Pakistan, however, will be desperate for a win too. Mushfiq says his side is fully prepared to take on the challenge.

“It’s a different venue. We are prepared to take on the challenge. I hope we will win the contest and seal the series at the same time.”

After thrashing Pakistan 3-0 in the ODI series, the Tigers went on to bag their first T20 win over Pakistan in a commanding fashion.

Mushfiq thinks if Bangladesh can win the last match, the series will be the most successful in their cricket history.

The captain thinks facing different Pakistan teams in three different forms of the game had been a huge challenge for Bangladesh.

The pressure of maintaining the consistency coming out of a successful World Cup campaign had been there too.

“Having played well in the last three months, everyone’s confident.”
