In a post match briefing, he said he was not disappointed with the outcome of the match.

Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes put up a brave show in a record breaking second innings opening stand of 312 runs on the fifth day of the match at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Saturday.

“There is nothing disappointing (about the draw). If your opposition plays better you have to take it. The team really tried well,” said Misbah at the post-match press conference.

Pakistan took a hefty 296-run first innings lead tilting the game in their favour. But Tamim (206) and Kayes (150) nullified the advantage.

Bangladesh cruised to 555 for six before the captains settled for a draw.

The duo put up dazzling display of strokeplay and punished the formidable Pakistan bowling attack with a wide array of shots.

“If the opposition plays well then we have to respect and appreciate that,” Misbah said.

Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah took a beating. Although Junaid and Hafeez took two wickets apiece, they could not stop the runs from flowing.

Misbah, however, backed his bowlers.

“Bangladesh batted really well. They put pressure on our bowlers. When you are playing shots it puts pressure on bowlers.”

The teams will lock horns again in the second match of the two-Test series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
