The two-match Test series kicks off at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Tuesday.

“How we start tomorrow (Tuesday) is crucial. We are focussed on the first session. The first session tomorrow will be significant,” said the coach at the pre-match press conference on Monday.

The Tigers are on a high with a clinical sweep of the limited-over series, beating the tourists 3-0 in the ODI series and winning the one-off T20 in comprehensive fashion.

Hathurusingha is keen to see his buoyant apprentices cart their limited-over success to the longest format.

“It is a different format, but you will retain confidence if you do well. (The players) have to put faith in their preparations. We want to carry this confidence on to the game.”

Hathurusingha lacks no respect for Pakistan, who are ranked fourth in ICC Test team rankings. He, however, pointed out that Bangladesh are going through a purple patch.

“Pakistan has a strong Test team with several experienced players. They beat Australia and New Zealand in recent times.

“It is good for the team (Bangladesh) to play against a strong side while in good form.”
