Pakistan captain Afridi urges teammates to learn from Bangladesh

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has asked his teammates to take lessons from Bangladesh after suffering a crushing defeat in the one-off Twenty20 International in Mirpur.

The Tigers tormented a hapless Pakistan to a seven-wicket defeat at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
 
It sealed Bangladesh’s first win after seven attempts against the 2009 world T20 champions and followed up a 3-0 humbling of the same opponents in the ODI series.
 
Afridi had earlier claimed that Pakistan were much stronger than Bangladesh in the shortest form of the game.
 
But the unfazed Tigers drubbed their subcontinent rivals once again to make him eat his words.
 
“Our youngsters have to learn from Bangladesh - the way they are playing,” he said in a post-match reaction.
 
Bangladesh shone in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand too.
 
They ended their most successful campaign in the showcase event where they reached the quarterfinals for the first time by knocking England out.
 
The rode the wave of success into the series against Pakistan.
 
“I want to congratulate Bangladesh. They are in great form, especially in their own backyard.”
 
Sparkling fifties from Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman eased Bangladesh to the win with 22 balls to spare on Friday.
 
It capped another solid all-round performance by the Tigers who had restricted Pakistan to 141 for 5.
 
The first Test is scheduled for next Tuesday, in Khulna.
 
Afridi is positive about their prospects in the longest formats.
 
“Misbah(-ul-Haq) and Younis (Khan) will return to the team; I think we have balance in Test cricket.”
