He showered Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar with praise after they paved the way for a facile eight-wicket win against Pakistan in the third ODI.

The captain said they had given the perfect start to their innings and were perfect foil for each other.

The Tigers continued their dominant display in the series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday to complete 3-0 humiliation of the 1992 world champions.

Soumya was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his peerless maiden century (127 not out).

His opening partner Tamim (64) assisted him flawlessly to give Bangladesh a solid 145-run start.

Tamim was adjudged Man-of-the-Series for the highest 312 runs with back-to-back centuries in the first two ODIs.

“Tamim is in great rhythm. I hope he will maintain this and play bigger innings in the upcoming matches,” Mashrafe said at the post-match press briefing.

He commended Soumya for his ‘clever batting’. “But he played his natural game. His shots were natural.”
Soumya came under the spotlight with his performance in the World Cup following his debut in the Zimbabwe series.
He had failed to score big in the first two ODIs against Pakistan despite promising starts.
Mashrafe said, “He (Soumya) started his career on a good note. He gave the team a good start in almost every match even after scoring like 20-25 runs.”
“He’ll go far if he continues to work hard and play his best. I think he has only begun to show what he is capable of,” said the Bangladesh captain.
