Srinivasan has told Kamal he will ' take care of everything', but Indian diplomats apprehend some fallout as the Bangladesh government may step in.

Srinivasan was booed by a section of the 93,000 strong crowd at the MCG, many of them from South Asia, who are aware of his unpopularity back home.

Sachin Tendulkar, the 2015 World Cup brand ambassador, was by Srinivasan side during the presentation ceremony.

Master of Ceremony Mark Nicholas quickly called for Tendulkar to hand over certain prizes and the crowd started cheering.

That saved Srinivasan from further booing.

He is only popular with his local board, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, but despised by others connected with cricket across India. Now he has added Bangladesh to the list of those who hate him.

The Indian Supreme Court, after receiving evidence of his involvement in many scams, has barred him from contesting for any position of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sources in India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) told bdnews24.com that they would not be surprised if the Sheikh Hasina government steps in and takes it up with Delhi.

"Hasina had supported Kamal in his outburst against the umpiring decisions in the India-Bangladesh match. So after what Srinivasan has done to Kamal, we will not be surprised if there is a fallout," said a top MEA official.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed."

According to media reports, Srinivasan had isolated Kamal during the ICC Saturday meeting and ensured that he and not Kamal presents the 2015 World Cup to the winners.

That is a break with the tradition followed since 1999.
