But it will not be easy as the Tigers appear determined to move into the last eight.

They already have three points and need to win two of the next three matches to move to the next stage.

Scotland and Bangladesh will face off at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Thursday.

Speaking to a Scottish newspaper, all-rounder Richie Berrington said he believed his side could register their first win in this World Cup beating Bangladesh.

They defeated the Tigers in T20 three years ago where Berrington hit a hundred.

“We are determined to make our mark on this tournament,” The National quoted him as saying.

Bangladesh are entering the game as the favourites. Until now, the Scots have never defeated the Tigers in three previous ODI meetings.

It was against Scotland that Bangladesh registered their maiden World Cup victory in 1999.

Berrington says he knows all too well how difficult the match is going to be.

“Bangladesh are a tough side who will fancy their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages,” he told the newspaper.
